Photos and the Design Industry

Since I am an aspiring editorial designer, Photoshop has been heavily integrated into my portfolio and personal artistic projects. However, the difficulties in becoming literate with this program have enabled me to develop a nuanced relationship with the software. In order to expound on the wider implications of this technology, I revisited my early encounters with it and sought the detached perspectives of those outside of the design field. Ultimately, I have realized that Photoshop simultaneously represents the potential of digital art as well as a cultural ambivalence about artifice and transparency.
